Following the success of the 1st Swiss Microbial Safety Meeting held in 2008 in Bellinzona, Switzerland, where more than 100 national and international participants congregated to discuss issues related to microbial safety, SPIEZ LABORATORY and the Swiss Institute of Virology and Immunoprophylaxis are organizing the 2nd meeting in 2010. The focus in Spiez will be on issues related to microbial safety in high-containment facilities, since the meeting will coincide with the scientific opening of the new high-containment laboratory currently under construction at SPIEZ LABORATORY.

Keynote lectures will be presented by Stewart Cole (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Switzerland), Susan Caskey (Sandia National Laboratories, USA), Andreas Lüthi (Architecture Firm Burkhard & Lüthi, Switzerland) and Stephan Kunz (University Hospital Lausanne CHUV, Switzerland). A number of national and international experts on microbial safety will give further presentations.
