Brescia is a city of the region Lombardy in northern Italy. With 190,000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city in Lombardy. The city is mainly industrial area, concentrating on mechanical and automotive engineering and machine tools. Its companies are typically small or medium- sized enterprises, often with family managements. The financial sector is also a major employer, and the tourist trade benefits from the proximity of Lake Garda, Lake Iseo and the Alps.

 

Thanks to its specific geographical position, Brescia has always had different cultures and this makes Brescia a continuous discovery. Each single corner has its own history an treasures. Brescia has beautiful museums: the City Museum, housed in Santa Giulia Monastery, the Vittoriale degli Italiani house-museum in Gardone with its rich and bizarre collection of objects and anecdotes about poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, Palazzo Martinengo da Barco, with twenty-five exhibition and the castle on Cidneo Hill, full of unexpected paths and hidden rooms and a marvellous panorama of the entire city centre, nearby hills and valleys.
