            Bluetongue Satellite Symposium,

          “Bluetongue in Europe, back to the future !!”

To take place after the 2^nd Annual Meeting of EPIZONE on the
June 7^th  2008
in Centro Pastorale Paolo VI
Brescia, Italy

The Scientific and Organising Committees of the Bluetongue satellite Symposium kindly invite you to participate in this symposium providing great opportunities for scientists, (international) organizations and companies in the field of Bluetongue.

Bluetongue has become a serious problem or threat for many European countries. The Symposium aims to exchange knowledge of Bluetongue in general with a focus on emerging serotypes of Bluetongue. Bluetongue within Europe might be for some countries the future, and for others it is or will be the past, and that brings us to:

“Bluetongue in Europe, back to the future!!” 

The Symposium will consist of lectures by invited keynote speakers, oral presentations as well as poster presentations. Abstracts will be divided into four topics:

·         Intervention strategy and policy: Treatment of animals, control measures, and economic aspects

·         Diagnostics: Detection of disease, antigen, RNA, and antibodies

·         Epidemiology/surveillance/risk assessment: Field and molecular epidemiology, monitoring, etc.

·         Entomology/vectors: Culicoides research, insecticides and repellents

Delegates are invited to submit abstracts. From the submitted abstracts before March 1st 2008 a selection will be made for oral presentations.  The very latest research results in posters will be
welcome until May 1^st, and will be on display during the meeting.

Deadline for abstract submission: May 1st 2008, only for poster presentation and abstract book

Deadline for registration: May 1st  2008 (registration for 2nd Annual Meeting is separate, see: www.epizone-eu.net/annualmeeting)

Deadline hotel reservation: March 31th 2008(This concerns the hotels booked by New Team on this site. Transport only from those hotels to and from the venue and railway station is organised. After March 31^st of 2008 you have to make your own hotel reservations).
