The 8th Annual Meeting of EPIZONE was a success

Last week, September 23-25, more than 200 international guests participated in the 8th Annual Meeting of EPIZONE in Copenhagen, which was hosted by DTU Vet.

EPIZONE Coordinator Wim van der Poel was very pleased with the meeting:  "I think the meeting was very well-organized and I have received a lot of positive feed-back from the delegates. Thanks to DTU Vet we look back on a very successful EPIZONE event in Copenhagen!"

Anette Bøtner, Head of the Organizing Committee and Deputy Head of Section for Diagnostics and Scientific Advice at DTU Vet: "We have talked to a lot of happy participants, who enjoyed the many good presentations and posters, but also the lively scientific discussions between the presentations and during the breaks. So also a big thank you to all the presenters and delegates."

Primed for tomorrow

The 8th Annual Meeting was entitled: "Primed for tomorrow" and addressed the latest developments aimed at monitoring and understanding the evolution, emergence, transmission and spread of epizootic viruses. The focus was the EPIZONE themes aimed at improved disease control through integration and collaboration of research in diagnosis, intervention strategies, risk assessment, surveillance and epidemiology.

Young EPIZONE

Tuesday, Sept 23rd, around 30 participated in the Young EPIZONE meeting, where they were informed how to network and learned to communicate with the press. This took place at the DTU Vet institute, where in the evening the welcome reception was held also.
Wednesday and Thursday the annual meeting took place in the DGI-Byen conference building in the centre of Copenhagen with oral presentations, posters and of course a dinner.
