The OIE Collaborating Centre for epidemiology, training and control of emerging avian diseases (IZSVe - Italy) and OIE Collaborating Centre for veterinary epidemiology and public health (Massey University – New Zealand), together with the OIE headquarter (OIE – France) are pleased to announce the GIS course “GIS management and spatial analysis in veterinary public health”.

The course will be held in the surrounding area of Venice (Italy) between the 10th and 14th of November 2014 and will be a mix of theoretical lectures and practical sessions, where you will learn how to design and manage a GIS program and perform Spatial Veterinary Epidemiology analysis. This course is aimed to those who have already had some exposure to GIS technology and wish to both get a deeper insight on GIS management approach to maximize the value of spatial information and analyze real world cases involving spatial analysis in epidemiology and control of animal diseases. The course will mainly focus on management and analysis of emerging avian diseases, but the topics discussed would be of benefit for any expert working in veterinary public health.

It will be given the possibility to the participants to provide a set of data or a specific GIS theme that will be used in the practical session.
